The Martinicup is the annual tournament of the Go Club Groningen. In 2018 we're playing in the weekend of June 2-3.

On Monday the 16th, 23rd, and 30th of April, followed by the 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th of May. We'll be giving an introduction course (for beginners). The first evening is free. If you liked it, and you want to follow the rest of the course as well, it will cost you 15 euro. for that price you'll also get course materials for at home.
People who successfully finish the course can participate in the Martinicup, the big annual go tournament in Groningen, on the 2nd and 3rd of June.

The Island weekend 2010 will be held from friday 4 until sunday 6 june.

In 2010 we are visiting Giethoorn again. This time in last years accommodation "Kraggehuis" but in another accomodation called "Sameneen" on the edge of the lake. This is close to last years location, and like last year only reachable by boat.

Advantages of the new location:

• More space around
• Motor boat as well as sailing boats
• More separate rooms

In 2009 the Martinicup will not be held. De Go club Groningen has been toying with the idea to move the Martinicup from fall to spring for several years now. In fall, there are already a lot of tournaments, while spring doesn't have many serious tournaments Furthermore, Groningen is a city with many terraces, but november is not the best month for drinking a cold beer outside.

Because a lot of the members of the club put all their energy into organizing the European Go Congress, this year was deemed ideal to make the switch. So Groningen 2009 will only refer to the congress, and not to a martinicup

Just like last year, Bert van der Marel, the owner of café Atlantis, is organizing a mindsports day on Queensday (thursday april 30th), to be held on the square in front of the Harmoniebuilding (off the Oude Kijk in 't Jatstraat). Several members of the club will be explaining the game to anyone interested.

On top of the explanation of the game, there will also be a blitz go tournament (10 min pp) from 13:00 in the afternoon.

Registration for the blitz go tournament starts from 11:30, the registration fee is € 3,-
